Frequently Asked Questions

Attachment is the blueprint your nervous system built, very early on, for what closeness is supposed to feel like. It tells you whether it's safe to need people, what happens when you're upset, and how much of yourself you can show without losing the relationship. That blueprint gets laid down before you have words for any of it, and then it quietly runs in the background for the rest of your life.

You'll usually notice it in patterns rather than in memories: shutting down when a conversation gets hard, over-functioning so no one has a reason to leave, bracing for criticism that hasn't come, or feeling anxious in exactly the relationships that matter most. Kids can show it differently through big reactions, clinginess, or a flat refusal to be comforted.

Worth naming clearly: attachment isn't a diagnosis or a defect. It's a pattern that made sense given what your nervous system was adapting to at the time. That's genuinely good news, because patterns learned in relationship can be revised in relationship — which is a lot of what we do together.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy approach that helps your brain process painful or "stuck" memories and experiences, so they stop feeling as raw or intrusive. It's well-researched for trauma, anxiety, longstanding attachment wounds, and it's paced to what your nervous system can handle.

I primarily work with late elementary aged kids through adults directly. I offer parent coaching for parents of neurodivergent kids of any age — helping you build attachment-based strategies you can use at home.

Yes — I offer online sessions throughout Colorado in addition to in-person sessions at my Lakewood office.

No, I am an out-of-network therapist. This allows us to prioritize your care over insurance rules; giving us total freedom over how long and how often we meet, while keeping your diagnosis and therapeutic records private.

Superbills & Reimbursement: I can provide a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. You can also use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for sessions.

Therapy is an investment in your well-being, relationships, and long-term healing. Please contact the office here for current rates.

To support community access, I maintain a few designated sliding-scale spots for clients with financial constraints. Because these spots are limited, they are reserved for those who genuinely need a reduced rate to access care. Please let me know during our initial call if you would like to discuss sliding scale options or low-fee referral alternatives.

That's up to you. I'm glad to integrate faith into our work together if that's meaningful to you, and just as glad to leave it out — this is your therapy, and it should fit you.
